Assembly Label are not just striving to build a great business but to create a business that has a positive impact. They want to help make a difference through the products they make, the platform they have, and the community they create.
They are implementing key initiatives across their business to reduce environmental impact. They made a move towards environmentally friendly packaging to make all products from 100% biodegradable material. Wherever possible, trying to minimise the amount of waste across the production process
They're currently working towards delivering 100% transparency on manufacturing processes, to provide information on where and how garments are produced. Assembly founders and design team manage the production of their garments and take regular trips to our factories in China to connect with manufacturers and visit the factories making their products.
Looking to the future, their goal is to become a certified B Corporation, meaning that they obtain the highest standards of ethical measurement across all aspects of business.
Baggu customers value sustainability as much as they do - so they partner with trusted factories, and whenever possible make products from recycled materials.
All of their Ripstop Nylon styles, including namesake reusable bags, are made with 40% recycled material using a recycled nylon filament yarn produced from pre-consumer waste, which means saving scrap material from landfill, and in turn helping conserve petroleum resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They also use environmentally responsible dyes that are fully absorbed by the material during production, minimising runoff.
The short answer is: It's a better product! By weaving recycled and non-recycled fibers together, we're able to produce a bag that's ready for everyday use and meets the standards of strength and durability our customers have come to expect.
Nearly all of our cotton canvas bags are made from 65% recycled cotton made from pre-consumer waste recovered during the creation of other cotton products (like t-shirts and socks) that would otherwise have gone to a landfill.
When cotton is recycled, the process breaks down its natural fibers, resulting in shorter “staple” fibers than would be found in virgin cotton. Spinning together recycled and virgin cotton fibers results in a more sustainable canvas fabric that still meets our high standards of strength and durability.
Reusable Bag Construction
To minimise waste and increase durability, our reusable bags are assembled from one continuous piece of recycled nylon material, with the neck of the bag used to construct the carrying pouch. The pouch is intentionally separate from the bag, as it is much easier to fold and insert the bag into the pouch when it’s detached! Proper storage will also ensure your bag lasts longer. Secured with double stitched seams, each bag can hold up to 50 lbs.
All products are ethically manufactured in China, where Baggu has long standing relationships with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 140001 certified manufacturers. For the product line and the materials they work with, China offers the most advanced manufacturing technology and ethical work practices. Manufacturing facilities are audited yearly by an independent third party to ensure they are upholding standards of occupational health and safety, and humane work hours and wages are enforced.
BAGGU products are designed to eliminate material waste, and they hold packaging to the same standards! As part of this effort, all paper materials that accompany their products are recyclable.
